Ward Keller has a long established history of providing legal services to the mining industry. The Ward Keller team responsible for mining and resources law offers:
- a comprehensive understanding of the law relating to mining in the Northern Territory;
- practical experience in the preparation of farm-in and farm-out agreements, joint venture agreements, option agreements, tenement sale agreements, due diligence investigations, exploration agreements, mining service contracts, royalty agreements and compensation agreements, including negotiating, drafting, stamping, registration and advising on such agreements;
- a full understanding of the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act (1976) (Cth) and in particular Part IV relating to exploration and mining on Aboriginal Land;
- familiarity in the determination and existence of native title rights and interests and negotiating with native title claimants and native title holders in relation to exploration and mining;
- the ability to provide guidance and advice in relation to the laws and process in relation to sacred sites and environmental issues;
- a practical understanding and ability to advise on the Northern Territory’s Mineral Royalty Act and its net value basis;
- an excellent working relationship with the Northern Territory Mines Department and industry figures, including access to the Titles Information System database; and
- an ability to meet client demands.
