Ward Keller is looking for an assistant clerk to assist our Darwin legal team. This is an extremely diverse role with many learning opportunities and career progression.

As an assistant clerk, you will be required to:

  • welcome clients and visitors
  • answer and forward calls in a professional manner
  • handle enquiries
  • schedule and confirm appointments
  • direct the flow of mail and deliveries to the intended recipients
  • observe and maintain our obligations in accordance with any legislative requirements including as fire warden
  • order and replenish office supplies
  • manage the maintenance and repair of office equipment
  • assist with copying, scanning, faxing and emailing tasks
  • organisingand coordinating firm social events
  • responsible for the lodgment and removal of documents from Safe custody
  • archiving and retrieval of closed matters from storage
  • preparing meeting facilities and arranging refreshments and catering, where necessary
  • provide support to and redundancy for the front of office manager, rounds clerk, personal assistants and paralegals.

The candidate should exhibit excellent word processing, written and verbal communication skills and competency; observe business etiquette and maintain a professional appearance.

Mining & Petroleum Lawyer

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic mining and petroleum lawyer to join our Resources team.

The ideal candidate would:

  • have a good knowledge of mining and petroleum law in the Territory or other Australian jurisdiction and be experienced in advising on mining and petroleum issues;
  • understand and have experience in working with the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth), the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 (Cth) and the Northern Territory Aboriginal Sacred Sites Act (NT); and
  • be disciplined in personal management practices, have a strong sense of initiative, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to interact with a wide range of clients.

1. Senior lawyer – dispute resolution

The ideal candidate would:

  • Have extensive litigation experience, including knowledge of personal injuries and workers’ compensation litigation, employment law and general litigation experience.
  • Have at least 7+ years post admission experience.

2. Senior lawyer – commercial and estates litigation

The ideal candidate would:

  • Have practical experience in contested estates, trusts and estate planning including sound property and commercial law experience.

3. Senior lawyer – general practitioner
