Experience

Leon joined Ward Keller in March 2003 after spending six years in Sydney and Brisbane in the Taxation Division of global accounting firm Ernst & Young.

He has both private and public sector experience and spent two years advising the Northern Territory Revenue Office on tax policy and legislation.

Leon’s areas of practice at Ward Keller are:

He provides legal advice on commercial matters for a broad range of clients from individuals to ASX listed companies.

Leon has a particular interest in State/Territory Taxation. In this practice area he has assisted clients prepare for audits, make voluntary disclosures, request private rulings on complex issues and prepare objections. He is also active in lobbying the Territory Government on tax policy issues through the Territory Taxation Administration Liaison Committee.

As a speaker, Leon has delivered several presentations for professional bodies including the Taxation Institute of Australia, the Real Estate Institute of the Northern Territory, the Urban Development Institute of Australia and the Australian Institute of Conveyancers. Leon has lectured Business Law at Charles Darwin University and is an author of the Lexis Nexis Australian Stamp Duties Law Reporter. He is considered a leader in the field of State Taxation and Residential Property Law in the Northern Territory.

Leon is also a Registered Migration Agent and provides advice to individuals and companies requiring Migration Law advice.
