Chenoa Al-theyab joined Ward Keller in August 2019. As receptionist for Ward Keller’s busy debt collection team, she takes calls, mails letters to debtors, helps load new matters and follows up with clients.
Before she joined the firm, Chenoa worked part time in retail and as a barista. She was born and bred in Darwin.
‘Retail was a fresh-out-of-school job for me, not a career, and I wanted something more challenging’, she said. ‘When the role with Ward Keller popped up, I knew I’d learn a lot of life skills, so I went for it.’
Chenoa said the job change has been wonderful. ‘Everyone at the firm has made me feel so comfortable, and I’m really enjoying the work’, she said. ‘It was a bit daunting joining a law firm at first, but it’s been really good. Every day I’m learning something new and having to think, which is what I wanted. I love it.’
Chenoa has applied to study physiotherapy at university, which she’ll study part time alongside her role with Ward Keller. In her down time, she plays soccer and is great at napping!
