Yasmin Osborne

Paralegal, Darwin

Yasmin Osborne joined Ward Keller in January 2021 as a paralegal in the firm’s family and criminal law cell. She studied a Bachelor of Laws with Honours at CDU and in 2019 did the Attorney-General’s graduate program.

Born and bred in Darwin, Yasmin spent 6 months as a judge’s associate at the Supreme Court before being admitted to practise as a lawyer in 2020. She was 9 months pregnant with her son at the time, so the paralegal role with Ward Keller was the perfect reintroduction into the workplace.

It’s a career shift for Yasmin, who started out studying sport science. ‘I finished that degree and did a year of Honours and was considering a PhD, but I couldn’t be a professional student for the rest of my life and needed a career.

Yasmin said she’ll practise as a lawyer eventually, but the paralegal role is perfect for her at the moment. ‘Ward Keller is terrific and has been very welcoming. While I’ve got a little one, I’m learning a lot without the added pressure of practising. It’s been a wonderful start.’

Outside work, Yasmin plays hockey and loves keeping active. She has an impressive collection of indoor plants and loves her 4 chooks and the retired racing greyhound she adopted.
