Ward Keller is looking for an enthusiastic law clerk to join their Darwin legal team. This is an extremely diverse role with many learning opportunities and career progression.

The position is full-time (80 hours per fortnight) and requires excellent word processing, written and verbal communication skills and competency; business etiquette and professional appearance.

This role offers invaluable practical experience, where you can expect to:

• Conduct legal research and gather relevant case law, statutes and information.
• Proofread and draft legal documents such as contracts and agreements under the supervision of the lawyers.
• Schedule client appointments and respond to queries/correspondence.
• Coordinate with outside vendors, experts, and consultants.
• Perform other admin duties as assigned by your supervising lawyer.

Mining & Petroleum Lawyer

The ideal candidate would:

• have a good knowledge of mining and petroleum law in the Territory or other Australian jurisdiction and be experienced in advising on mining and petroleum issues;
• understand and have experience in working with the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth), the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 (Cth) and the Northern Territory Aboriginal Sacred Sites Act (NT); and

Commercial, default and possessions and estates litigation

The ideal candidate would have at least 5 years’ post admission experience and practical experience in:

The ideal candidate would have at least 2 years’ post admission experience and experience in commercial transactions including property, leasing, development, share and unit sales and business sales.

• have strong analytical skills,
• have experience in representing corporate and non-corporate clients,
• have excellent English language skills,

Ideally the candidate would have a strong relationship with the Territory or be serious about a commitment to the Territory.
