Jessica Johnson was born and raised in Darwin before moving to Brisbane to complete her secondary education. With a strong connection to the Territory, she returned home to study law at Charles Darwin University — a place she has always considered home.
Before beginning her legal career, Jessica built a strong professional foundation through roles in administration and hospitality, including working in her family’s business during school holidays. She joined Ward Keller in June 2021 as an administrative assistant in the debt recovery team, working alongside her sister, before progressing into legal secretary and clerk roles within the commercial law team.
While completing her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, Jessica gained valuable experience across a range of practice areas through rotations as a GDLP clerk, further developing her understanding of the firm’s broad practice. She now practices as a lawyer in Ward Keller’s litigation team, assisting clients in matters involving civil litigation, workers’ compensation, criminal law, and family law. Jessica enjoys the diversity and fast-paced nature of litigation, valuing the fact that every matter presents unique challenges and opportunities.
Since joining Ward Keller, Jessica has found the firm’s culture to be welcoming and supportive — something she experienced from the very beginning when she started her career alongside her sister. Outside of work, and having recently completed her studies, she is looking forward to pursuing new interests while continuing to expand her knowledge and experience across her areas of practice.
