Additional occupations for the Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL) announced

On 22 June 2021, the Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs Alex Hawke MP announced the inclusion of a further 22 occupations on the Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL).

This brings the total now to 41 occupations.

The PMSOL is a list of critical occupations necessary for the ongoing recovery of Australia’s economy from the impact of COVID-19.

This means that employer sponsored nominations and visa applications for those occupations will get priority processing. Skilled migrants in those occupations with a valid employer sponsored visa will also be able to get inbound travel exemptions.

The list now includes:

  • accountants
  • engineers and other mining sector occupations
  • chefs
  • medical specialists including nurses
  • software specialists
  • social workers

If you are an employer and want to sponsor a skilled migrant, and want to know if an occupation is on this list, contact the team at Ward Keller.
